The Who has announced a full set of tour dates that will bring the band across North America throughout spring and fall 2022 with orchestral accompaniment.
The first leg of The Who Hits Back! tour will kick off on April 22nd in Hollywood, FL and stretch all the way through November with a two-night run at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas, NV (11/4, 11/5).
After working through Jacksonville (4/24) and Tampa, FL (4/27), Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend will bring the group through The Big Easy for a headlining spot at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on April 30th. From there, The Who will work through a few Texas dates (5/3, 5/5, 5/8) before making heading toward the east coast by way of Oklahoma (5/10), Tennessee (5/13), and Ohio (5/15).
The spring leg of the tour will then close out with shows at TD Garden in Boston, MA (5/18); Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA (5/20); Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. (5/23); Madison Square Garden in New York, NY (5/26); and Bethel Woods Center of the Arts in Bethel, NY (5/28).
The Who will re-emerge in North America come fall after Daltrey takes his solo tour to Europe throughout the summer. The band will get things started in Toronto, ON on October 2nd before working through Michigan (10/4), New York (10/7), Ohio (10/9), Illinois (10/12), and Missouri (10/14).
A stop at Ball Arena in Denver, CO on October 17th will then send the group to the Pacific Northwest for shows in Portland, OR (10/20) and Seattle, WA (10/22), before closing out with romps through Sacramento, CA (10/26); Anaheim, CA (10/28); Los Angeles, CA (11/1); and the two-night stand in Las Vegas on November 4th and 5th.
“Pete and I said we’d be back, but we didn’t think we’d have to wait for two years for the privilege. This is making the chance to perform feel even more special this time around,” says Daltrey in a press release. “So many livelihoods have been impacted due to Covid, so we are thrilled to get everyone back together – the band, the crew and the fans. We’re gearing up for a great show that hits back in the only way The Who know how. By giving it everything we got.”
An American Express cardmember pre-sale will begin in certain markets today, February 7th, at 10 a.m. local before a fan club presale this Wednesday, February 9th, at 10 a.m. The general on-sale will then begin on Friday, February 11th, at 10 a.m. Head here for purchase options and check out a detailed list of tour dates below.
In other news, Variety has recently reported that a biopic centered around The Who’s late drummer Keith Moon is currently in the works. Titled The Real Me, the film will be executive produced by Daltrey and Townshend, directed by Paul Whittington, and scripted by Jeff Pope. The Real Me will start production this June and does not have an official release date at this time.
